A note for beginners:

to put your guitar into open d5, tune the 6th string (low E) down two
frets (make the 7th fret on low E sound like the open A string). leave
the next two as they are, and tune the 3rd (G) string to the 7th fret on
the 4th (D) string.  then tune the 2nd (B) string up to the 5th fret on
the 3rd (now A) string, then make the 1st (E) string sound exactly like
the 2nd (now D) string.
