Hey that's pretty easy!!! Thanks for putting this up. I'm not very good on guitar, and it's always good to actually be able to play an awesome song!!!
littlejoaozinho - 2004-06-27

weasle321 - 2004-08-09
hey that is some pretty smart thikingkeep it up.
j-man8907 - 2004-08-16
Rosalynd, I like to see the lyrics so I can know whaere the chords are, but you don't need them here because it's only F for 4 counts, C for 4 counts, and G for 8 counts through the entire song.

Audio, some of the other tabs on this website have the lyrics, so I was wondering if you had to have some kind of special permission to use them. Thanx!

I recently bought an "Integrity" worship CD that has this song on it by someone
named Dave Lubben and by listening to the CD and playing along with him it is way more easier than playing the way the Newsboys play it. For those of you who don't really care for bar chords (myself included) here is the way I play it along with the "Integrity" CD.

CAPO 3

Verse:
D2 C2 G D2
Chorus:
C2 G D2

on the "G" chord you can add a G2 before switching back to the "D" to make it sound better and throw some originality into it. Take care, and may God bless you all!
Josephde - 2005-03-02
In all my theory knowledge, I have come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as a chord _2. It doesn't exist. So what chords are you listing? A sus2?
Nikseroni - 2005-03-05
Hey geniuses,

If ya'll would just look in the lyric book (you know, that little square booklet on the front of the CD, that comes with EVERY CD) you would see that the Newsboys took the time to write out the chords for just about every song. So, stop fighting about what key a song is in, or if it's a C instead of a C2, and just look it up yourself. Like I said, if you have bought the CD, then just look in the lyric book that it comes with.

Hey!

As a priveliged owner of THE SOURCE, which has music + guitare tabs (this is in England, by the way), i would like to point out to josephde that _2 chords do exist, but in music, they are shown as sqaure signs (as in units of measurement). You should find them all on the web somewhere!
Clayistheclay - 2005-03-26
The song goes good with F,C,G but another way to play it is in D,A,E. It sounds a little better this way.
empire_worth - 2005-03-26
Just to Clarify

I may question your music theory. First off, it does not matter how a chord-2 is marked. They do exist. Most of the time, when someone writes a chord-2, it really should be a chord-add9. For instance, what most people call a C2 has a D note on the B string at the third fret. But a true 2/second of C is a D on the A string at the fifth fret. It is a matter of octaves. And it should also be mentioned that it is a ‘C-add9’ and not just a ‘C-9’. A ‘C-9’ must also have a seventh of C in it.

kelly32694 - 2005-09-03
my head hurts... why can't we all be friends and play nice? And what the heck is a _2 chord anyways?!
beatrum - 2005-09-26
Empire i appreciate that! finally some one who feels the same as i do. I know what the mean now but before it was confusing trying to put the chords together.
ttownguitarist - 2006-02-08
Oh, good stuff but I thought that when a chord was written as "C2" it was a "Csus2" but because it didn't go back to being "C" you elminate the "sus"

"In all my theory knowledge, I have come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as a chord _2. It doesn't exist. So what chords are you listing? A sus2?"

First, the number after a chord always indicates a note that is played with the original chord. Second, a sus. chord is completly diffrent from a major or even minor chord. And Empire is right with the 9th comment. Just keep working on your theory, and playing for God, all other things will fall into place.

hay guys if u want to sound like the CD jody is playing power cords with heavy plam mute. Then i just swich back to the regular cords for the chours. Just playing the regular cords does not give u the sound on the cd.

would u guys stop arguing!

Hi, for who wants to know what the C2 actually is. I don't know if it's an official chord, but it exists. To know what it is, you must know what fred what note is. For example: the second fred on the second string is a B. If you don't know this, I can't explain.
For who know: here it comes. A C2 is a C chord with the 2nd note added (I think it's the same as a Cadd2). So it makes: C (=1), D(=2). So it gives a C chord with a d note. The tab for a C is: 0-3-2-0-1-0, the tab for a C2 should be: 0-3-2-0-3-0. I hope I explained enough ;).
Uber_Pro - 2006-08-15
Alright n00bs. This song does not use power chords- there's no 5's, a 2 is the dodgy way to write a sus2 because people don't know what they're doing, 'fret' has a 't' not a 'd' and the only chords used in this song are G F and C.

During the verse and bridge and outro play G using the C shape rooted on the G at fret 10 on the A string and the F at fret 8 and simply barre across D,G and B strings on fret 5 to make your C. Thats the 3rd inversion.

In the chorus, open chords for G and C and a first fret E shape bar is used to make the F. You can always suppliment for barre chords of course.
rapids36 - 2006-09-02
You can also try F5 C5 and G5 on the fifth and sixth string

F5 C5 G5

x 5 x
3 3 5
1 x 3

rapids36 - 2007-03-16
ok rocking for God wat ever you say.
LC7rock - 2007-04-04
If you want to know the way it sounds during the actual song, then it goes like this (I won't put it all out but if you listen to the song you can get the rythm)

intro
G|10| 12| 12|
D|10| 10| 12|

That's how it sounds in the song but i always like to add a hard sounding bit to it during the chorus. And it is...

D|3| 5| 5|
A|3| 3| 5|
E|1| -| 3|

And that's about it. Also I was add a Newsboys concert and the roadie gave us guitar picks and drum sticks because they had asked everyone in my row to move back, since we were so nice to them they gave us free stuff!! ROCK ON ROADIES!!!
tonymarcello - 2008-05-02
During the 2nd verse there is a little lead part at the end of each line. I don't have my guitar in front of me but I believe it goes like this.

_____________________________ E
_____12__13_____15___________ B
__12_________________12__14__ G

I've not written tab here before so I'm not sure how this will turn out.
Gary4825 - 2008-07-09
I've played it both ways and they both seem fine to me. The only tricky part is muting the strings at the right time. But even that is a very natural feel for most folks. Play it for Jesus. If you need to transpose into another key for your vocal range...Go for it! It will still sound just fine. Don't get too caught up in perfection. If oyu do, you are setting yourself up for discouragement and disappointment. I'm pretty sure God isn't looking for a bunch of dejected worshippers. You can sing "Old MacDonald had a Farm" reggae style and out of key and if love for God is in your heart while you sing it, you are indeed worshipping.
