E G A E G A
E
How you gonna reckon with a God like this
B
When you gonna face what you can't dismiss
E B
Whatcha gonna say to the soul kiss that is my God
E
Fearsome like the sag in a fat man's chair
B
Sweeter than a patch of Rogaine hair
E
How do you define what you can't compare
B
This is my God
D D/F# G
And there's no use explaining what can't be contained
Chorus 1:
C G
I'm not following a God I can lead around
C G
I can't tame this Deity
C G
That's why Jesus is the final answer
Em C D
To who I want my God to be
Em C D
He's who I want my God to be
Verse 1:
How you gonna reckon with a God this Great
Why you gonna measure what you can't equate
Whatcha gonna say to the checkmate that is my God
Stronger than the burn of an aftershave
Tender as a burger in your microwave
Rarer than the air in an empty grave
This is my God
And there's no use explaining what can't be contained
[chorus 1]
[intro x1 only]
Bridge:
F G C/E
How we gonna work this out
F G C/E
To fabricate a God like this, no doubt
F G C/E
We'd end up worshipping a Christ of our own design
F G
But Jesus doesn't fit that profile
F G
His ways aren't mine
Chorus 2:
I'm not following a God that's imagined
Can't invent this Deity
That's why Jesus is the final answer
To who I want my God to be
He's who I want my God to be
[Chorus 1 till the end]

| mcksk8hawk - 2004-08-03 | | the intro can be simply played as open E, G, A (G and A barred) just to make it easier. |
| Dawgeetar - 2004-08-11 | I've watched the Thrive Live DVD, and on that Jody just does a regular E, G, A. And on the verses he goes up and plays something on like, the twelfth fret on like, the G, B, and E strings. Then on the prechorus he comes down to like the 8th and does something. Hope that helps. I can't really tell what he plays, and I'm not really good at figuring it out by myself. Nice job though!

| 21Frets - 2004-12-03 | Ah, dude, it's "tender as a booger in your microwave",
kinda gross, but that's the truth. |
| devotion_owed - 2005-01-30 | | ^ haha...actually it started out as burger- but as Pete says "Try to get an Aussie to say burger and it comes out horrible!"...so they kept it as booger as a joke kind of thing. |
| Soulfire40 - 2006-06-30 | | Sweet tab it really helped me out. Remember, Courage in God Speed |
