Ok, this is my best shot at it. It should be enough for one guitar to
rattle the ceiling. There’s kind of a hidden part that the second guitar
plays, but this sounds pretty good with the cd. This gets complicated,
so bear with me.
No lyrics, but you throw in a nice gutteral roar if you feel the need.
Dropped D tuning
play this as furiously as you possibly can.
1st variation
e----------------------------------------------------
b----------------------------------------------------
g-----------------*11*-------------------------------
d-0---2---5---9---*11*---5---3---0-------------------
a-0---2---5---9----*9*---5---3---0-------------------
D-0---2---5---9----*9*---5---3---0-------------------
**ok when you hear the cd you can kind of hear the guitar add the 11 part
of that chord. You play it at the 9 for a couple beats then add on the 11
and then take it off for a nice open background sound. Depending on what
kind of guitar you have you can opt to leave the g and the a strings out
and add the g string later like this:
2nd variation
e----------------------------------------------------
b----------------------------------------------------
g—x---+11------------------------------------------
d--11---11-----------------------------------------
a—x-----x----------------------------------------
D--9-----9------------------------------------------
or, I think you can have a second guitar just lightly play the 2nd variation
(the D9+g11 part)in the background as the first guitar plays the 1st variation.
I think that sounds right. E-mail me if you have questions, suggestions,
corrections, approval, tickets for EXTOL concerts, if you’ve been waiting
for some EXTOL stuff to get posted, or if you think I’m totally wrong.
God bless. EXTOL, keep on thrashing
