Artist:	Toby Mac
Album:	Portable Sounds
Title:	Portable Sounds
Tuning	Drop D

Main Riff:
(This makes up most of the song)
[E---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[B---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[G----------3)---------------------------------------------------------------
[D-0-0--0-0-3)-------3-5-3-3--3-3-5)------3~---------------------------------
[A-0-0--0-0-1)---3-5-----3-3--3-3-5)--3-5------------------------------------
[D-0-0--0-0--------------3-3--3-3-5)-----------------------------------------

Intro:
Main riff 1X low presence
Main riff 2X Full Volume

No guitar in verse

Prechorus: (use as needed, palm muted)
[E---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[B---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[G---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[D-0-0--0-0------------------------------------------------------------------
[A-0-0--0-0------------------------------------------------------------------
[D-0-0--0-0------------------------------------------------------------------
   . . . .

Chorus:
[E---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[B---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[G----------3)---------------------------------------------------------------
[D-0-0--0-0-3)-------3-5-3-3--3-3-5)------3----------------------------------
[A-0-0--0-0-1)---3-5-----3-3--3-3-5)--3-5------------------------------------
[D-0-0--0-0--------------3-3--3-3-5)-----------------------------------------

Bridge: (Again, use as needed, Tabs don't show rhythm anyway)
[E---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[B---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[G---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[D-0-0-0-0-------------------------------------------------------------------
[A-0-0-0-0-------------------------------------------------------------------
[D-0-0-0-0-------------------------------------------------------------------
   . . . .

[E---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[B---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[G---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[D-0-8-3-5-------------------------------------------------------------------
[A-0-8-3-5-------------------------------------------------------------------
[D-0-8-3-5-------------------------------------------------------------------

Then continue playing the main/chorus riff the rest of the song.
Trust me, thats all thats played. There is a part that may be lead
guitar, that comes right after the bridge, but I think it's just
effects. If someone wants I can tab that for guitar.

Any and all constructive feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Thank you for the rating, may I ask why, if not because of the intro, that you rated my tab down? If it's because it is a relatively short tab, you have to understand that toby mac uses a lot of electronic sounds to fill in where the instruments are not, and this song in particular is a fairly simple guitar piece.

Good effort! I think there's just one note wrong.
[E---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[B---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[G----------3)---------------------------------------------------------------

[D-0-0--0-0------3-5-----3-3--3-3-5)--3-5------------------------------------

Did you spot it?
It should be 1st fret on the A string instead of 3rd mid way through.
Other than that, good job!
It depends alot on what kit you got, but what guitars you using/amps and settings to try and get the right sound?
CDBongo - 2007-05-25
Hmm... It may be, I still think it goes F G C D, F G A# D. But A# is one of the notes in the key of "F", so it's possible that it's there, I just think that C is what is played on the cd. Either way, it doesn't matter which way you play it, it sounds fine either way. Thanks for the comment, and please Rate the tab.

Thanks

I gave a 3 because the verse is a bit off to see I think these to chords are used:

G|-7----|
D|-7--8-|
A|-5--8-|
D|----8-|
PM-.--.-

TWO chords sorry.
CDBongo - 2007-05-26
I'm not entirely sure, but I think what you are hearing in the first verse are just effects. The second verse, however, is different, and there may be some A#5 power chords in there, I personally can't tell, it's up to whoever views this tab to decide. (There is so much distortion on this song anyway) Thanks for the correction.
Te eF Kay - 2007-05-26
if there is lead in the bridge it goes like this:

E|-15-17-------15-17--|
B|-------15-15--------|etc.
G|--------------------|

you can figure out how many times to strike the B|15 note each time.
CDBongo - 2007-05-27
Cool, thanks! Sometime when I get the chance I'll go and tab out some of the other underlying melodies that may somehow possibly be connected to guitar so you or I or someone can eventually post a super accurate version of this tab with all the bells and whistles included.
Te eF Kay - 2007-06-03
Good idea! hey I love that song Boomin' ay?
insane - 2008-01-01
is this tab for "boomin" or "ignition"? I'm a bit confused.
Bill Nukem - 2008-02-22
btw the key of F does not contain A#s however it contains Bbs which sound the same but one key never has both A and A# in it.

Also this song has some elements that make it feel like it's in F but I think it's actually in D minor because they use the same notes just different ones more frequently
J3ZUZ FR3AK - 2008-02-24
Ur all kinda right. The first tab is right except instead of a string 3rd fret then a string 5th fret, do it on the E string with no drop tuning. No need to thank me. Toby mac rox!
J3ZUZ FR3AK - 2008-02-24
w8 sorry i forgot something to add. when theres no drop tuning the power chords E,A,D strings open then 1st fret A string and then 3rd fret on the D and G string.
And finally... where was I? o yeah. E string 1st fret and 3rd fret on the A and D string. I'm not sure how to right a tab so forgive me if this is two comfusing. <(*o*)>
