Heya, i was looking at the other tabs and thought they were good but i play
it a little different. To me this sounds heaps more like the cd. You can hear
that on the cd its not just 2 chords strummed usually, there is this little
melodic part that i thought was missing, so here's my version
Capo on 2nd fret
e-3------3-----5-----5-----------------------
B-0h1----1p0---0h3---3p0---------------------
G-0------0-----0-----0-----------------------
D-2------2-----4-----4-----------------------
A-3------3-----5-----5-----------------------
E--------------------------------------------
Once things get going in the song the bass does the run up but you can
play it on the gat
Capo on 2nd fret
e-3------3-----5-----5-------3------3-----5-----5------
B-0h1----1p0---0h3---3p0-----0h1----1p0---0h3---3p0----
G-0------0-----0-----0-------0------0-----0-----0------
D-2------2-----4-----4-------2------2-----4-----4------
A-3------3-----5-----5-------3------3-----5-----5------
E----------------------------0------------2------------
play the 2nd fret on the E string with your thumb if you find it easier
(i do)
I haven't included the strumming rhythm cause that takes heaps of time
and you can listen to the cd to get it.
Cheers heaps, God bless
Andy

| pali - 2005-05-15 | | nice work thats how i play it for my youth band at church it sounds cool and works, awesome song too, |
| AcousticServant - 2005-07-02 | | nice tab...one thing...it's seems physically impossible to put the thumb on the 2nd fret when u play the e chord...MY GOSH...i've tried way too many times...any easier way to play it? |
| AcousticServant - 2005-07-02 | | also, in one part during the song, joel plays higher on the neck, but with the same finger positions...my best guess is a G to an A like 10-9-0-8-10 to 12-11-0-10-12 or somewhere along those lines |
| Guitargirl2God - 2005-07-08 | The correct way to play this song is like this
C2 D Em7 D
over and over again
GOD BLESS YOU
Rachel |
| Andp_p - 2005-07-18 | | Heya Acousticservant, cheers about the tab. I dunno any easier way with the thumb, its not that commen to use the thumb but john mayer does it quite a lot so the only thing is either grow a bigger hand or play with a bass guitarist. Cheers dude |
| JasonD - 2005-08-12 | | Hey! ... you can kind of cheat by not even using you're thumb at all ... if you just place you're fingers on the usual C chord, now just add you're pinky onto the 3rd fret of the high E string. This way is pretty easy, and it lets you hammer on and pull off very easily! ... Hope that helps? Jay |
| JasonD - 2005-08-12 | | Oh sorry, I didn't read the part about E ... opps, haha, yah, grow a bigger thumb! Just kidding, you could try what I do and just aim at the 2nd fret as well as you can and just mute the E string. |
| gemini050889 - 2005-08-15 | | jasond is right...put it on capo 2...play regular c and add your pinky on the 1st e string...and then slide it up to the 5th fret...and its the same thing over and over |
| guitarDummer199 - 2005-08-26 | your tab is really good. but i play it a different way
e----x-x-------------------------------------------------
B----5/7-------------------------------------------------
G----x-x-------------------------------------------------
D----4/6-------------------------------------------------
A----3/5-------------------------------------------------
E----5/7-------------------------------------------------
strum about 10X befor the slide. and listen to the song for the strum pattern
you can also play it with a capo
capo on 2nd fret
e----x-x-------------------------------------------------
B----5/7-------------------------------------------------
G----5/7-------------------------------------------------
D----4/6-------------------------------------------------
A----3/5-------------------------------------------------
E----0-0-------------------------------------------------
and do the same thing, stum about 10X befor the slide and listen to the song for the patter |
| guitar4godjosh - 2005-09-05 | | I HAVE THE SONGBOOK AND ITS D AND E ALL THE WAY THROUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| pjohn - 2005-10-04 | | Good for you buying the songbook and all... But you should know that they have about three or four different guitars. and you can be sure that not all of them are doing the same thing. So yes, it is D and E through the whole song for the rythm guitar, but they also have two or three other guitar parts. |
| Andp_p - 2005-10-07 | | heya guitar4godJosh, it does say d and e the whole way through, but if you put the capo on the second fret, it takes the chords you are playing 2 semitones up. So for example, when you play the c, it becomes d when the capo is on the 2nd fret. Also the main acoustic prolly does just play d and e but i tabbed what the bass was playing as well just cause i like the sound of if. Cheers heaps for your comments though bro. |
| Gawdz_Gipht - 2005-10-09 | I love this song, I didn't really get your tab, however, I do it this way that I made up, the acoustic start off:
E|-----------------h7--------------------------------------------------------
B|10-----------s9p-h9--------------------------------------------------------
G|-9------------9p-h9--------------------------------------------------------
D|-0-------------------------------------------------------------------------
A|-0-------------------------------------------------------------------------
E|10-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Strum for a bit listen to track, then after instead of doing the last part I just do a barred E5 chord and just strum the bottom 3 strings of it. |
