                                          Tuning:

                                        Dropped A#

(this is what chevelle uses with the baritone
guitar, so if it is to low tune drop D)

First of all, the intro and verse are not the same. Also, Vitamin R, Get Some and Still Running are the only songs on This Type of Thinking that are tuned in Drop-B. Check my tab. It's pretty accurate to what they play live.

pete loeffler says that he uses dropped A# tuning on vitamin R. Dropped B tuning is used mainly on wonder Whats Next. He uses a low-tunable PRS baritone guitar with a bass string on it.

Actually, Pete uses Drop-B on Vitamin R. It's like one of three songs on the album that's not in Drop-A#. Well, maybe four if you count Bend the Bracket, but I can't remember.

Also, a baritone guitar does not have a bass string on it. It's a 27 or 28 inch scale neck on a typical guitar body that's tuned B-E-A-D-F#-B straight from the factory. The strings are thicker than on a regular guitar, but not by much.

Actually, Pete Loeffler does use A# tuning on vitamin R. He has a prototype PRS baritone guitar that he tunes down. He has replaced the top string with a bass string. He not only used it in the studio, he also has it on tour. I have seen it... it is nice :)

No, he uses Drop-B tuning on Vitamin R. Look, go watch the series of "Live" videos MTV has on their site with Chevelle. All three songs (Get Some, Vitamin R and Another Know It All) are played with the same guitar. All three songs sound EXACTLY the same as they do on the album. All three songs are played in Drop-B. I play along with the CD and my tab is basically taken from watching Pete's fingers. It's right. And about the bass string... Do you realize how much thicker bass strings are than guitar strings? He'd need a new nut to properly use a bass string on it. The highest string for a bass is a G. If you try to tune it up from G to A#, there's a good chance it'll pop.

Pete used a PRS baritone prototype on the record. True, most of the songs were drop A#, But Vitamin R is dropped to a B. He uses .072 strings on the baritone, rather than the regular .056. Weather he has it on tour or not, I would love to know. What color is it?
