ok, if a song is in drop d, you tune your e string down until it is a d, so all that means is your e string is a lower note than it was before.

I think cuteness1010100 or whatever was trying to say that usually the high e string is labelled e, not E, on a tab, which is correct, but I think that is totally useless. If you can't figure out which e is which you probably can't play this song anyway.

actually, an x usually means rake, and if it means palm mute in this case thats really weird, because usually a palm mute is written as an asterik(or something like it) next to or below the note played.
