hi charles :]
Daniel.
dobrijdjen - 2005-01-17
I saw him in concert and it looked like he was picking power chords on the intro:

Em D C
e[---------]
B[---------]
G[-9--7--5-]
D[-9--7--5-]
A[-7--5--3-]
E[---------]

This is what I play, but I may be wrong
OneDayLessBob - 2005-08-27
ok, this comes from the man himself, David Crowder. it is 1/2 step down, but the intro isnt power chords and it doesnt start 0h7, i dunno who's tabbing this, but go ahead and play 0h7 on an Gibson Crowder and see what kinda sound you get, lol.
But anyhoo, its actually played as follows:
Eb------3-------2----------------------|-------------------------------------|
Bb------3-------3----------------------|-------5----------3------------------|
Gb-------------------------------------|-------5-----------------------------|
Db-0h2----------0----------------------|-------------------------------------|
Ab-------------------------------------|--0h3-------------3-------------0--0-|
Eb-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------|

Eb------3----------2-------------------|-------------------------------------|
Bb------3----------3-------------------|-------5-----------------------------|
Gb-------------------------------------|-------5-----------------0--2p0------|
Db-0h2-------------0-------------------|-----------------------0---------4p0-|
Ab-------------------------------------|--0h3---------------0----------------|
Eb-------------------------------------|-------------------------------------|

again, its not exactly rigth, but its closer than the above, no hard feelings.

jkim519 - 2005-11-05
how do u play C9?
Sorry for askin...I don't suk at guitar...but i've never seen C9 before so...if u can post it...that'd be nice
surferdude9375 - 2005-11-08
There is a chords section on this website. http://www.christianguitar.org/chord/173 is where you can find C9.
It dosn't have a picture like most do.
PacoIsMyGuitar - 2006-03-04
C9 looks somethinlike this:
032033
not sure whether or not you play top E...
PacoIsMyGuitar - 2006-03-04
sorry thats Cadd9
wesman1221 - 2006-04-04
I believe a C9 chord is X32333

Hope that helps. God Bless.
LeftshoeBob - 2006-06-20
I think most people know that the chords listed are relative to a normally tuned guitar, but I'd figure I'd throw that out there before going on the C9 thing.

All C9 means is that you add the 9th note in the scale (which is a D). So it's either 032033 or 032030 or whatever, it just depends.
LeftshoeBob - 2006-06-20
Let me clarify that, both 032033 and 032030 are C9, pick which one you think sounds better. (In this case, I would suppose it would be 032033.)
jkim519 - 2006-09-04
uh....the chords for the chorus i think is just G and C9
the D doesnt sound right if u play with the song in either the outro, bridge and chorus
davdcrowderfan - 2006-10-14
go to youtube.com and in the search box enter this: david crowder - open skies. Enter it just like that and a video of him playing open skies at a concert comes up. You can see exactly what he's playing. I've found this very helpful.
davdcrowderfan - 2006-10-14
and he does play 0h7 like the original tab says, and it sounds wonderful

This is how you play the short intro, not the dj intro part, but the start of the actual song. This is 100% right and it has been tabbed from a video and cd. The riff immediately following the D chord in the first section is very fast and difficult and requires good right hand technique. Listen to the cd and you will get the idea. Practice it slowly first. You will need to use your thumb to slide over the first two notes plucking them very quickly with a sweeping motion. The second riff is not as difficult and can be played in different positions but this is how Crowder plays it. Enjoy
