| ChurchPunk 2 - 2005-04-05 | Drop-D is when you tune the top string down from an E to a D. It makes it so all you have to do to make powerchords is to put your finger over the strings. You know a powerchord is usually made like this D---4--
A---4--
E---2--
But with the string taken down a step all you have to do is this D--4--
A--4--
D--4--
and you get the same effect. It's really, really common (along with drop-c) as a tuning among modern rock guitarist. In fact, most of the rock bands you listen to probly use this all the time. It's because its eaiser. |
| jiggyfly18 - 2005-05-30 | | how do you do drop c tuning |
| ice_wiz - 2005-11-27 | | I think if I'm not mistaken to drop C you hafta tune your guitar down one step and then drop d it |
| Dani_Boy - 2006-04-04 | | You're right Ice Wiz. You do Drop D and then you tune all the strings down one step (2 frets) so that the darkest string becomes a C. |
