tabbed by Deren (deren_s@hotmail.com

NOTES: The Elms are AMAZING!! this song is a great tune for alternitive
worship, and could be covered as a great rock tune. I dont know
if they are singed, but they very well should be!

CHORDS USDED:

F#5 A5 Bm5 D5 Asus
e-x]-x]-x]-x]-x
b-x]-x]-x]-x]-x
g-x]-x]-4]-7]-2
d-4]-7]-4]-7]-2 PLEASE NOTE, THAT DURRING THE CHORUS IT
a-4]-7]-2]-5]-0 WOULD BE EASIER TO HIT Bm5 ON THE TOP
E-2]-5]-x]-x]-x OF THE 7TH FRET: d-9
a-9
E-7

INTRO: F#5 A5 Bm5 A5 (four times) and then do the same with distortion.

VERSE 1: guitar one plays the chords in the intro and sings, while
guitar two picks a Asus chord and a Bm5 repeatedly:

Guitar one: F#5 A5 B5 A5
Guitar two:
e--------------------
b--2--2--2--4---4---4
g--------------------

F#5 A5 B5 A5 F#5 A5 B5 A5
When I’m scared, you were my father. When I cant breathe you are the air,
F#5 A5 B5 A5 F#5 A5 B5 A5
and when I cant swim, you are my lifeboat, when im tired and weary you are
F#5 A5 B5 A5
there......

CHORUS: with distortion! note the slight chord change with D5.
F#5 A5 B5 A5 F#5 A5 B5
And when times get high and times get low, you always let me in, on
D5 F#5 A5 B5 A5 F#5 A5
a valued note. I could give you time alone and then, you’d only come and
B5 D5
ask me where have I been?

Ok, now follow that pattern of picking and chords for the rest of the song.

VERSE 2:

When I was weak, you were my shoulders. When I’m poor you give me a hand.

And when I cant swim, you were my lifeboat, you carried me to dry land...

CHORUS:

then this part where he sings “ah ah ah ah” allot. Just hit a Asus and
a Bm5 chord repeatedly for 4 measures.

VERSE 3:

When I’m not sure, you are my maker. Speak words, you keep me awake.
And when I cant swin, you are my lifeboat, when I’m tired and weary you
are there.....

CHORUS:

then repeat the “ahh ahha hh ahh “ part.

end on a D5

sounds to me that you need to put and G5 in there after the initial chord instead of the A5
